About

John Nolan is a play-by-play announcer for the Indiana Fever (WNBA), the Noblesville Boom (NBA G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers), and the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons (NCAA Division I, Horizon League), as well as a freelance broadcaster for other events. He previously spent more than a decade with the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Minor League Baseball High-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres).

John’s work has been seen on networks like ESPNU, NBA TV, MSG, Marquee Sports, Bally Sports Indiana, and the Olympic Channel.

A native of Edison, New Jersey, John’s passion for sports media began at an early age. As a high schooler, in addition to covering athletics at his alma mater, St. Joe’s in Metuchen, he was also a contributor to NJ.com and The Home News Tribune (USA Today Network). After attending the Bruce Beck & Ian Eagle Sports Broadcasting Camp, John was inspired to attend Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

At SU, John covered ’Cuse athletics for student media outlets WAER, Z89, and CitrusTV. His opportunities included calling radio play-by-play of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four and the 2012 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse National Championship.

While in college, John also got his start in baseball, first on play-by-play for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and then interning with the Triple-A Minor League Baseball team in Syracuse.

Following college, John joined the TinCaps as the club’s No. 2 broadcaster before a promotion to the lead role the next year.

He’s recently called championship events for the Horizon League and the World Baseball Softball Confederation, too.
